Independent News – our Christmas 2019 magazine

As we approach the end of 2019, we are pleased to share with you our Christmas 2019 magazine.

Our front page focuses on why, in these uncertain times, you need to focus on your long-term financial objectives. Whilst the general election is out of the way, there are still many uncertainties out there, with the US-China trade conflict, oil price volatility and of course Brexit providing enough volatility and uncertainty to unnerve even the most hardened investors. We suggest ways to deal with these uncertainties.

With only a few months to go before the end of the 2019/20 tax year, we remind investors of the most valuable allowances, reliefs and exemptions that could help reduce their tax bills and keep their finances tax-efficient. There’s also a reminder that you need to use this year’s Isa allowance by the end of the tax year or lose it forever.

On page 15, we discuss whether some people are ‘sleepwalking’ into retirement and how much they will need to save to afford a comfortable retirement. We also take a look at the financial implications of divorce, and how they can be difficult to deal with.

Elsewhere in this issue, we review the ramifications of the High Court’s decision relating to the rise in women’s State Pension age, provide some tips to help teach your children or grandchildren about money matters and finally take a look at the bigger picture for your wealth and security.

With the festive season approaching, we hope you can find time to reflect on financial matters and enjoy our Christmas issue of Independent News. Please feel free to download it.
